The Story

The Oriental Longhair is the longhaired version of the Oriental Shorthair — an Oriental Shorthair in every respect except coat length. It shares the Siamese-derived body type and personality of the Oriental Shorthair but with a flowing, silky semi-long coat and spectacular plumed tail. In FIFe the breed is known as the Angora — not to be confused with the Turkish Angora. It comes in the same extraordinary colour range as the Oriental Shorthair — over 300 combinations.

Fun Facts

01

The Oriental Longhair holds the same record as its shorthaired sibling — over 300 recognised colour and pattern combinations, the widest colour range of any longhaired cat breed.

02

In FIFe, the breed is registered as "Angora" — a name that causes confusion with the Turkish Angora, which is an entirely different ancient natural breed. The two breeds share a coat type but have distinct origins and genetics.
