The Story
The Lapponian Herder is the traditional reindeer herding dog of the Sami people of Lapland — one of three Lapland breeds recognised by the FCI (alongside the Finnish Lapphund and Swedish Lapphund). The Lapponian Herder is the larger, more powerful, short-haired working herder of the three; used specifically for gathering and herding reindeer herds in the Arctic conditions of northern Finland. It is a working herder first and companion second, designed for endurance across vast Arctic landscapes.
