The Story
The Cockapoo is one of the oldest designer hybrid breeds — the Cocker Spaniel and Miniature Poodle cross has been deliberately bred in the USA since the 1950s, making it one of the most established hybrid breeds with multigenerational breeding programmes and dedicated clubs. The combination of the Cocker Spaniel's gentle, affectionate nature with the Poodle's intelligence and low-shedding coat has proven extremely popular. In the UK, the Cockapoo has become one of the most popular "breeds" (crossing with English Cocker Spaniels) and clubs are working toward formal breed recognition.

Fun Facts
The Cockapoo is the oldest established designer hybrid breed — deliberate Cocker Spaniel × Poodle crosses were first documented in the USA in the 1950s, nearly 40 years before the Labradoodle was created in 1989.
In the UK, the Cockapoo has overtaken many established pedigree breeds in popularity — in some years more Cockapoos are sold than Labradors, making it one of the most purchased dogs in the country despite having no formal KC registration.
