The Story

The Caucasian Shepherd Dog is one of the most powerful livestock guardian breeds in the world — a massive, fearless dog from the Caucasus mountains developed to protect flocks from wolves, bears, and leopards. With males commonly exceeding 80 kg and some individuals reaching 100 kg, the Caucasian Shepherd is among the heaviest dogs in the world. It is deeply courageous — documented encounters with wolves and bears are part of the breed's working history. The breed requires exceptional experience — it is dominant, independent, and capable of serious injury. It was used by the East German military to patrol the Berlin Wall.
