The Story
The Blue Picardy Spaniel is a French spaniel developed from crossing the Picardy Spaniel with English Setters brought to France by English sportsmen, creating a slightly larger, more setter-like spaniel with a distinctive steel-blue speckled coat. The blue cast to the coat is caused by fine black ticking on a white base, similar to the Blue Roan English Cocker Spaniel. The breed is more popular in Quebec, Canada than in its home region of France. Gentle and particularly good with children.
