The Story
The Korthals Griffon (Wirehaired Pointing Griffon) was deliberately developed by Dutch sportsman Eduard Karel Korthals beginning in 1874 with systematic crossing of multiple hunting breeds to produce the "supreme gun dog" — a versatile, sociable, wire-coated dog that would work in all terrain and all weather. Korthals kept meticulous records of his breeding programme and travelled extensively to promote the breed across Europe. The result is one of the most consistently pleasant-tempered and family-friendly versatile pointing breeds. Called "the supreme gun dog" by Korthals himself.
