The Story
The Hygenhund (Hygen Hound) is Norway's second native scent hound — named after its creator H.F. Hygen who developed the breed in the early 19th century from German and local Norwegian hound crosses. More energetic and determined than the calmer Dunker, the Hygenhund is Norway's "fast and furious" scent hound, bred for covering the mountainous terrain of Norway at speed. It is rarer than the Dunker even in Norway.
