The Story

The Dorgi holds a unique place in hybrid breed history — it came about accidentally when one of Queen Elizabeth II's Corgis mated with a Dachshund belonging to Princess Margaret. The Queen is said to have kept and loved the resulting puppies, and deliberately bred more Dorgis throughout her life. Queen Elizabeth II's famous love of Corgis extended to her Dorgis — she reportedly had up to five Dorgis at various times alongside her Corgis, and the breed gained media attention as "the Queen's other dogs." The Dorgi combines the Corgi's herding instinct with the Dachshund's scenting and burrowing drive.
