The Story
The Český Fousek (Czech Fousek) is the national hunting dog of the Czech Republic — a versatile, wire-coated pointing dog that has been part of Czech hunting culture for centuries, documented in Bohemian hunting records from the 14th century. "Fousek" means "mustachioed one" in Czech — referring to the breed's characteristic facial furnishings. The breed nearly went extinct after WWI and again after WWII due to the import of German versatile breeds, but was meticulously rebuilt by Czech enthusiasts. It is one of the most energetic and driven of the continental pointer breeds.
